HL7
D-Innovators embraces the ANSI
approval HL7 or Health Level Seven standard. HL7 consists
of the V3.0 Reference Information Model (RIM) and the V2.5 which
expresses the data content needed in a specific clinical or
administrative context as a transaction. They are prescribed
in patterns by which multiple OBX segments may be combined to
describe selected, gross observations. The ANSI HL7 standard is
managed by the HL7 standards committee.
"Level Seven" refers to the highest level of the International
Organization for Standardization (ISO) communications model for
Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) - the application level. The
application level addresses definition of the data to be
exchanged, the timing of the interchange, and the communication
of certain errors to the application. The seventh level supports
such functions as security checks, participant identification,
availability checks, exchange mechanism negotiations and, most
importantly, data exchange structuring.
